Today was the littlest monkey's birthday. He turned three and when we asked him what he wanted on his cake, he repeatedly requested "Monkey George"! I asked a few additional times because, gosh do I hate character cookies! But the child knows what he wants and I won't let my kids down. So here is the birthday boy in his "Monkey George" birthday shirt:

He was so happy when he woke up but who am I kidding, this kid is always happy! He only wanted to open his birthday presents! It's super hard to find a gift for a kid when he's got an older brother and sister who have just about every single toy known to man. So this year, we went with his new favorite show, "Tayo". I know most of you would think that Curious George would be a given but they don't really make toys other than plush and books. But we live in a town with an AMAZING library system and he checks out books every time we go. Tayo is something that he found on Kids YouTube and he has become obsessed with watching it at every opportunity.

They played witht this toy for well over an hour while they wait for daddy to come home from work for an early birthday celebration. We can't celebrate this evening because his older brother and sister will spend two hours at the soccer fields so we had a late morning/early afternoon celebration. When I went to order his cake at a local grocery store they told me they couldn't do Curious George. What? Are you kidding?
"Fine," I said, "Just put a yellow and red border on the cake and I will take care of the rest!"
I got back into the car and huffed about it to which my husband responded, "I can't believe you aren't going to make him a cake too, it's so easy!" For those of you that DON'T know the man I have been married to for almost ten years, sarcasm is his hobby and he uses it at my weakest moments to see if he can make my almost ready to erupt volcano, fully erupt in his presence. I glared at him. He smiled.
"No! I am not going to make a cake, too. I am going to put some of the cookies I already made ON the cake and call it a day."
Yep, that's what I did!

Ethan loved it and he smiled the entire time, he even waved to "Monkey George"!

It is our family tradition that each child gets to smear his name on his birthday cake and then like that icing but since this cake was atypical, I let Little E smear some of the icing.

We followed our cake and cookie eating with a trip our for lunch to a place of Little E's choice. He chose "Chick". Sorry "Dee Dee", I know that's usually your date place but apparently he also uses it for special occassions, birthdays. I would say this guy had a really special day. He's tuckered out in his bed taking a nap now! Can't wait to see how much he accomplishes in his third year of life now that his speech is on track and he can hang out with the big kids.
